Just discovered this fantastic article in the Washington Post (by my favorite food writer, Jane Black, no less) about a food co-op in Wooster, OH that is quite literally helping to save the farm.
Local Roots runs like a 6 day a week farmers market, without taking the farmers away from their land. Part grocery, part market, it is proving a sustainable model of getting local food from farm to consumer.
I *love* success stories about innovative local food systems. Now, if we can just get some inspired entrepreneurs to recreate this model in similar regions... who's interested??
